After waiting for what seemed like F-O-R-E-V-E-R, the PCS orders have come through and our family is headed to Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii!  We knew that this was a possibility, but the news was still a surprise and the familiar pre-PCS feelings sprung up rather quickly.
You've probably had that same feeling....the one that mixes every emotion known to man into one and erupts into laughter and crying all at once.  It's strange to feel excitement, fear, adrenaline and exhaustion all at once.  It doesn't seem possible to experience so many different and conflicting thoughts all at once!
Immediately, I began to think of all of the things that will change while we're in Hawaii for three years.  Let's face it, none of us are getting any younger!  Then there's the fact that every duty station we've been at has been within easy visiting distance of relatives....several times we've even lived in the same state as siblings, parents and grandparents!  That won't happen this time.  Nor will loading the car with the boys and our "stuff" for a visit to Mimi and Papa or Gram and Gramp.  And again, I'm struck by the fact that we are not getting younger.
Nana, who is here for the week, and I were visiting when Mike called with the news of our pending move.  As soon as the words were out of his mouth I looked over at Nana, who has braved a loss of eyesight for years and wondered how many more visits I would have with her.

I needn't have worried about breaking the news of board shorts  and surfboards with the boys, though.  The declaration of our PCS to Hawaii was met with "hang loose" signs and shouts of "ALOHA"!
Suddenly, we are in the throws of figuring out Cadee's quarantine, shipping the Harley (oh yeah, and the cars!) and weeding out things hardly worth making the move.  And in the midst of this, we will carve out time for friends and family to enjoy the moment.....and make plans for their visit to Hawaii!
